Established
in 1984 after training as a designer and blacksmith to degree
level, I use traditional blacksmithing technique and new technology
in contemporary and innovative ways, seeking beauty in function
and making decorative statement through the creative use of structure
and essential detail.
My work ranges from large-scale architectural
projects to small-scale decorative and sculptural work, often
individually designed to customer requirements. My work is unique,
reflecting and finding inspiration from its intended environment.
I give considerable attention to detailing so that new facets
and aspects wait to be discovered by the viewer.
I hand-craft all work at my forge, my
design philosophy requiring substantial build quality, fine craftsmanship
and attention to detail, resulting in highly durable forms which
reflect my belief in the economics of quality.
My work has been widely exhibited and
well received internationally and has been awarded the Jugend
Gestaltet prize for Design in Metal.
In 2010 I was awarded the title of Master Blacksmith by the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths, the ancient order of blacksmiths in the United Kingdom.
